Chairmans Report May 2026
Thank you to all councillors that have contributed this year.
I will start by remembering Kris, who we all miss and think of with great affection and how we still consider at meetings things he would have advised us to do.
Thank you for Paul for organising the memorial tree and plaque for him.
Jake Fixter has joined us, as our youngest new councillor and already has become a help in planning matters and has agreed to help with the staff sub committtee .
Katy Hockham has rejoined the Council and is an extremely efficient contributor and popular with parishioners around the village
Thank you District Councillor Danial Simpson who I think has attended all of our meetings
County Councillor Alex McGonigle has attended 1 meeting and sadly not responded to our emails.
We now have a Staff sub committtee set up to manage our clerks contract appraisals etc. this now is led by Katy Hockham, Thank you Katy I know this task has challenges but you never moan, you always smile and for that I am very grateful. Katy is also organising a litter picking event.
Nancy taken over the newsletter, it is now far more modern and easy to read.
Paul B has agreed to take over as RFO which we are very pleased about as he is a whizz at spread sheets!
Paul has also and also managed to get ‘slow’ signs painted on our road entrances. He is organising service contracts for our village De fibs, and moving the Belchford one to the village hall as a central location.
We have had our NDP added to the Local plan and is now a fully voted on and agreed ELDCas our most local planning document. Thank you Ian for driving this forward.
James Hallam has take on the role of the Chairman of the Village Green and has begun the process of grant funding to get play equipment on the Village Green.
The green triangle on Chapel lane has had soil added to make it a more pronounced doom and re-seeded by Smithy and Ian, fingers crossed it begins to thrive.
Smithy and Paul M are in the process of installing bike stands at fulletby for visitors to the village.
Paul M has also responded on behalf of the council our latest planning application, using our new NDP.
Peter had another successful Lane letting Event raising £232 for village furniture maintenance.
Peter and Smithy successfully secured grant funding for a wildlife pond and this is now complete and is just waiting to be puddled with clay so it can hold water.
Edward Goodall has maintained the village street furniture and Robert ward kindly donated plants for the sign plant boxes. We have had D of E students working litter picking in the community.
We are continuing to ask for updates on the process of public rights of way up Ings Lane and across Park Hill. Fingers crossed for this year.
Peter and Ian have successfully applied for a Viking Way bench to be installed on the boundary of our two villages, commemorating 50 years of the Viking Way trail.
Hopefully I haven't missed anything! But if I have now is the chance to tell me!
